RDO holds techno-demo for two prototypes

techno demo1The Research and Development Office held a Technology Demonstration for the two prototypes on March 15, 2021, at the BPSU Abucay Campus. The highlight of the activity was the presentation and demonstration of Dr. Eduardo S. Tinao and Engr. Brian J. Tuazon on the prototypes “Localized Processing Machine for Roasting and Grinding of Dried Coffee Beans” and “ Automated Cashew Shelling Machine”, respectively.

Dr. Gregorio J. Rodis delivered a message ensuring the attendees that BPSU will continually serve the stakeholders through the conduct of research. Dr. Walter G. Valdez, the OIC-Campus Director of BPSU Abucay gave an opening remarks emphasizing the importance of involving the stakeholders in the research endeavor of BPSU.

Jorge-Acain, the R&D Chair of BPSU Main Campus, introduced the participants consisting of the representatives from the Provincial Cooperative and Economic Development Office (PCEDO), Balanga Agrarian Reform beneficiaries MPC, Binukawan Bicol Marketing Cooperative, Ofelia's Cashew Nuts, Alion SEA-K, Bagakeño Cashew Nuts, coffee farmer and entrepreneur from Brgy. Tala, and Orani Cooperative TAMCO. Whereas Ms. Arlene D. Ibañez, the Manager of Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) provided attendees with a lecture on the Technology Transfer Protocol.

During the techno-demo, attendees were allowed to ask questions, give comments, and even recommend the improvement to be made for the Coffee Processing Machine and the Automated Cashew Shelling Machine.

The PCEDO Representatives, Ms. Erica Mae Famor and Ms. Mary Grace Atuan encouraged Dr. Eduardo S. Tinao and Engr. Brian J. Tuazon to draft a proposal on the improvement of the prototypes which can be funded by DOST.

Ms. Ma. Florinda O. Rubiano, the OIC-Diretcor of RDO, concluded the activity with a message encouraging the stakeholders to be open in any needs that they would have so that BPSU will have a gap and concern to be considered in the conduct of research. She even added that BPSU is always willing to collaborate and be of service to them.
