Virtual MOU Signing of Bataan Advanced Science and Technology Ecosystem for Sustainable Development

To collaborate for the development and implementation of programs that respond to employment, food production, health and environment, research, education, and housing goals of the province of Bataan, the Provincial Government of Bataan (Bataan PGO / LGU), Philippine-American Academy Of Science & Engineering (PAASE), National Resilience Council (NRC), Department Of Science And Technology – Regional Office No. 3 (DOST3), Carlos P. Romulo Foundation For Peace And Development, Inc. (CPRF), and Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) conducted a virtual Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing for the joint project “Bataan Advanced Science and Technology Ecosystem for Sustainable Development” today, October 12, 2021, via the online teleconferencing app Zoom.

Present in the said MOU signing are the representatives of the parties involved in the project such as Gov. Albert Raymond S. Garcia for the PLGU Bataan, DOST Region 3 Regional Director, Dr. Julius Caesar V. Sicat, BPSU President, Dr. Gregorio J. Rodis, PAASE President Dr. Gisela P. Concepcion, NRC President Dr. Antonia Yulo Loyzaga, Chairman and the President of CPRF, Ambassador Roberto R. Romulo. DOST Secretary Fortunato De La Peña together with the Vice President of Philippine American Academy of Science & Technology, Dr. Mariano R. Santo Domingo and BPSU DR3AM Center Director, Dr. John Ryan C. Dizon were also present as witnesses in the said event.

The said project will be giving due priority to three tracks namely (1) the practical applications of 3D and Additive Manufacturing technologies including but not limited to the development of proof-of-concept for 3D printed housing; (2) design and implementation of plastic waste management projects including but not limited to the creation of a plastic value chain, upcycling and recycling of plastic products; and (3) smart/precision agriculture projects that shall establish Bataan as a major source of local food products.

As the state university of Bataan, BPSU is responsible for taking the lead in 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing related programs/projects crafted under the said MOU. It shall also serve as the core partner of PLGU Bataan in implementing programs/projects where BPSU has considerable technical expertise/capability. Last but not the least, the University will serve as a conduit for PAASE scientists and engineers in its technology transfer and capacity-building activities directly related to the projects formed in this collaboration.
