DOST PSTC- Bataan and BPSU visits Pulo Kabalutan for 2021 eCEST Pulo Project

In line with the recently approved eCEST Palili and Bangkal Project of BPSU and DOST PSTC-Bataan,  RDO Director Ma. Florinda O. Rubiano, MAN, ETSO Director Dr. Bernadeth B. Gabor, R & D Orani Campus Chair Mr. Marz Linnaeous L. Rabadon, Representatives from DOST PSTC-Bataan and RDO Central Staff visited Pulo Kabalutan, Orani Bataan on June 1, 2021 for a community assessment for the upcoming eCEST Pulo proposal that will be submitted to DOST Region for approval. 

During the conduct of community assessment, representatives from BPSU and PSTC-Bataan met with Pulo Kabalutan’s Barangay Captain Jose Sally Raymundo, with several barangay councilors, and local barangay organizations’ representatives to discuss the possible project areas that should be included in each of the five (5) project components of eCEST Pulo Project Proposal. 

Representatives of Pulo emphasized their need of potable water to facilitate the ease of access of the secluded community to a source of clean water. Alongside this, both the project team and barangay officials agreed upon the introduction of fish processing of Black-chin tilapia (BCT) (Sarotherodon melanotheron) and Lady fish ‘bidbid’ as the main ingredient in creating food alternatives through value adding process.

Brgy. Capt. Raymundo assured the project team that their community and his office will give their full support to the said project all throughout its implementation to ensure the success of each project component once it has been approved by DOST Region III Office.
