Attendance to the School-on-the-Meeting at the International House of BPSU Main Campus

In preparation to the soon-to-launch School-on-the-Air Program for farmers, a meeting, presided by the Radyo Vatan station manager, Ms. Arlene Pascual, was held on May 26, 2010 at the International House of BPSU Main Campus.

This School-on-the Air Program aims to encourage farmers who could not attend actual training to learn innovative farming practices and technology even at home or in the field, wherein they could also be able to graduate.

The said SOA which will focus on Palaycheck System will be consisted of the following activities: Lessons to be broadcast, Quizzes on the Air, Farmers’ Meeting and Cliniquing with Actual Farm Visitation, and Project Monitoring and Evaluation.

Representatives from the DA-ATI RTC3, like Ms. Jocelyn Bollente served as the resource speakers who presented the general framework and the system of program implementation of the SOA.

Ms. Arlene Pascual showed to the attendees the survey form to be disseminated to the barangays of Bataan to identify the topic that Bataeños would want to tackle on the aforementioned SOA.

The meeting was participated in by representatives from the Municipal Agriculture Offices of Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay, Balanga and Pilar, with the Directors of Research and Extension, Mrs. Arlene D. Ibañez and Dr. Elizabeth Joson, respectively; Dean of CEA, Engr. Rodrigo C. Muñoz; Associate Director for Research in Abucay Campus, Engr. Jonathan E. Lacayanga, and the RDO Staff, Reynan P. Calderon, Lorna R. Roldan and Jose Paulo B. Tuazon.

Also present in the meeting was the Director of the Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), RTC3, Mr. Danilo Ochoa who narrated the history of the School-on-the Air Program. He even shared the experiences encountered by the farmers who participated in the SOA of Nueva Ecija through the DWNE Radio Station in Nueva Ecija.
