Gov. Tet and PSB give cash gift to BPSU employees

Accompanied by University officials, Bataan Governor Enrique “Tet” Garcia and his staff led by Ms. Gila Garcia visited the campuses of BPSU on January 7, to distribute the P2,000 cash gift to BPSU employees. The giving of cash gift was an initiative of the governor and the Provincial School Board (PSB). On Friday morning, the governor visited BPSU campuses in the towns of Dinalupihan and Orani both in the first district of the province. The team proceeded to the Abucay Campus for lunch, where the campus’ employees received the cash gift.

In the afternoon, the governor met the employees from the Main Campus, Balanga Campus and Bagac Extension at Sari-Gamit Covered Court in the Main Campus.

In his speech, Gov. Tet shared the developments and the initiatives in the province that he has been undertaking since he was congressman of the second district. Among the initiatives he led was the retaining of the Petrochemical Complex in the town of Limay, which generated at least 3,000 jobs for the people of the province as well as other neighboring localities. The establishment of the Bataan Polytechnic State College in 1998 and its conversion into a state university in 2007 was among the major accomplishments mentioned by Gov. Tet along with the 10,000 scholars funded by the provincial government. He also said that the Free Port Area of Bataan (FAB) in the former Bataan Economic Zone is expected to usher in more jobs in the province as more locators are inquiring to the possible investments in the FAB.

In terms of health services, the head of the province boasted of the three new buildings and other facilities available at the Bataan Provincial Hospital which caters to the needs of the province.

President Magpantay expressed his thanks to the governor for such an act of generosity accorded to BPSU family.

Likewise, employees association president Miss Evelyn Tria expressed gratitude in behalf of the University’s workforce citing that the governor is a living proof of the maxim Christmas is giving, giving is Christmas. She also added that the blessings come from the Ultimate Giver of all and the governor and the PSB are just the stewards.

Closing the program was Dr. Teresita R. Castillo, Vice President for Student Affairs. She also thanked the governor for updating the BPSU family about the recent developments in the province. She even suggested having an annual audience with the university employees focusing on the state of development of the province.

Distribution of cash gift immediately followed. Employees not present during the program were advised to get their cash gift at the Provincial Treasurer’s Office.
