Bataan Peninsula State University hosted the Central Luzon Health Research and Development Consortium (CLHRDC) meeting on June 16-17, 2010 at the International House of BPSU Main Campus.

The two-day activity was graced by a message delivered by the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mercedes G. Sanchez.
Regional Director of Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 3 and Chairman of CLHRD also gave an inspiring message focusing on the Health Research Proposals. He encouraged the participants to continue to come up with viable Health Research Proposals because DOST has available funds that can be awarded to the researchers.

To equip participants with knowledge on research preparation and proposal packaging, the resource speaker, Dr. Jesus Natividad Sarol Jr., an epidemiologist/biostatistician, discussed the following topics:

  • Selection of Subject
  • Problem Identification and Objective Formulation
  • Data Collection Methods
  • Review of Related Literatures and Definition of Variables
  • Research Designs
  • Data Processing

This activity produced two health research papers, namely: “Patients’ Knowledge of Tuberculosis and Determinants of Treatment Compliance” and “Patient and Health System Factors as Predictors to Delay in Tuberculosis Detection and Treatment in Region III”.

Dr. Lirio Magpantay, head of the lead agency, Department of Heath (DOH) Region 3, also graced the occasion. He gave comments and provides inputs for directions to the proposed papers.

The major component of the query was centered on the budgetary allocations for the two papers so a subsequent meeting was scheduled for the 24th of June, 2010 to be held at the DOH Conference Room, Diosdado Macapagal Government Center, Maimpis, San Fernando Pampanga.
