BPSU student to compete as Philippine Representative to the ASEAN Skills Competition in Indonesia

Joseph De Leon Yumul, 2nd Year BS in Electronics and Communications Engineering student of BPSU, will represent the Philippines in the upcoming ASEAN Skills Competition in Jakarta, Indonesia come November 2012. Last March 26-28, 2012, he was declared champion in the Philippine National Skills Competition 2012 Industrial Electronics Category held at the TESDA Central Office in Taguig City.

Although he was not able to practice on the materials that were used during the actual competition, he produced a circuit board with the most creative layout and a functional embedded program for electronic devices; thus, he bested the other contenders from Region IVA and the Lyceum of the Philippines.

In preparation to his participation to the ASEAN Skills Competition, he is currently undergoing trainings on Hardware Design, Embedded Systems Programming, Fault Finding Repair and Measurements, and Assembling of MP3 Box Player at TESDA – Orion. Through undergoing the said trainings, Joseph hopes that he would be able to bring further honor and recognition to TESDA, BPSU and the Filipino nation.

Joseph used to be an out-of-school youth but he was convinced by his cousin to enroll in the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Orion, Bataan. The training helped him realize his goals; hence, after finishing the training he decided to enroll in the BS Electronics and Communications Engineering program of Bataan Peninsula State University.
