Ms. Rona Mae Tanchico, SMC Scholarship Coordinator, and Ms. Jenny Esmale, Head of Administrative Services of SMC Foundation, said in an interview that the SMC Global Community Scholarship Program was launched in 2012. As basis for selection of scholarship grantees, SMC reviews the performance of higher education institutions in the PRC Licensure Examination for Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. Fortunately, BPSU happens to have a very satisfactory performance in the licensure exams in the said areas; thus, SMC sought to establish a partnership with BPSU in order to extend the scholarship to deserving students.

The scholarship program covers the tuition fee, miscellaneous expenses, book and daily allowances, and the fees for the board review including the house rental and meals, and board examination fees of the grantees. The scholars shall also have the opportunity to be trained by experts at SMC and be considered for employment at the corporation upon qualifying in the licensure exam.

  1. Annual family income less than Php120,000.00 per annum;
  2. Applicant must be a 5th Year ME/EE student;
