The four-year partnership of BPSU and the Bureau of Jail Management Penology (BJMP) was recognized last October 25, 2013 during the 22nd Anniversary of the BJMP Region 3 held at the Heroes Hall, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The plaque was received by Dr. Elizabeth A. Joson, Director of the BPSU  Office Extension Services (OES) and Ms. Monaliza Rodriguez, OES Staff.

According to Director Joson, "It has been a fruitful four years of partnership in giving hope to our brothers and sisters detained at the Bataan District Jail." She further added that "It is very fulfilling to work with the personnel of BJMP and seeing the detainees experiencing changes in their lives are already accomplishments for both the university and the jail management."

Jail Senior Superintendent Ambrocio Ambulan told BPSU, "Please don't leave us," appreciating how the partnership turned into a sense of family.

The BPSU OES held numerous skills training programs in the said facility such as Food and Beverage Service Training, Baking and Pastry Making, Basic Housekeeping, Flower Arrangement, Rescue and Disaster Response Trainings, Psychological Seminars, Stress Management, Health and Sanitation Seminars, Hair cutting, reflexology, T-shirt printing, among others. Just last week, the University through the experts from the College of Engineering and Architecture held Basic Electricity and Planning Training for Male dorm detainees.

The University started the partnership with BJMP in 2009 and since then, both parties are still looking up for more shared activities in the years ahead. (Report and photo from BPSU OED FB account).
