Eight academic programs undergo accreditation

In order to provide the community and the academic populace the best quality of service and education, the Bataan Peninsula State University embarks on another journey of accreditation. The University aims to see how much it has developed in terms of its service to Bataan and the academic community. Witnessing the continuous growth of BPSU, the University President Dr. Delfin O. Magpantay filed the application to undergo accreditation with the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP).  Upon the approval of the application, the key officials conducted a meeting to determine the program’s readiness for accreditation.

Last November 18 to 22, 2013 accreditors from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP) came to evaluate eight programs of the University. Programs in the Abucay Campus namely, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Bachelor Secondary Education major in Agriculture have undergone the second survey.

Program in the Main Campus Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering has undergone the preliminary survey. The Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering have both undergone the first survey,  Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering for the second survey.

The opening program was held at the BPSU Audio-Visual Room. It was graced by the University President Dr. Delfin O. Magpantay, the Coordinator of the Accreditors Dr. Thelma T. Lanuza, key officials, faculty, and students from different campuses. The program started with the welcome remarks of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Overall Chairman (Accreditation) Dr. Teresita R. Castillo. Dr. Delfin O. Magpantay gave his amiable speech for the accreditors. After the message from the President, Dr. Gregorio J. Rodis Vice President for Administration and Finance presented the key officials for each campus that will be evaluated. The Overall Coordinator of the AACCUP team Dr. Thelma T.Lanuza shared the overview of the upcoming accreditation visit and introduced the different accreditors. The closing remarks for the program were given by Dr. Delfin O. Magpantay thus indicating the start of the accreditation.

At the end of the survey visit, a closing program was held in order to discuss the strengths and the areas to be improved by the programs. The different programs that undergone the survey visit garnered a lot of positive comments. They highlighted different strengths of the programs and gave rich recommendations. The accreditation team took their findings for technical review and board action of the programs. The team also expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome the University has given them throughout the accreditation visit.
