The University’s commitment to protect faculty and students’ creative endeavour was manifested through another seminar-workshop entitled “Levelling Up Innovations with Intellectual Property Rights” held on February 1-3, 2017 at the University Library, CEA Accreditation Room for the consultation-workshop and the Bataan Christian Youth Foundation Inc. Library for the seminar-workshop. The speakers during the seminar-workshop were Mr. Eduardo S. Tinao, Chairperson, Research, Extension and Training(RET) of the Main Campus, Mrs. Cristina G. Rivera, Dean of the College of Information and Communication Technology (CICT), Mr. Aaron Paul C. Rivera, Instructor of CICT, all of which are members of the ITSO Technical Team and Engr. Emmanuel M. Mendoza, Field Manager, Intellectual Property Service Office, IPO Philippines.
In view of the need to further encourage patent activities among ITSO network, BPSU ITSO Technical Staff and researchers attended the 2016 Patent Writeshop conducted by IPO Philippines on October 18-19, 2016 at IPO-PHL Conference Room. The objectives of the writeshop were:
Synergy 2016 is a gathering of research enthusiasts and technology innovators, sponsored by USAID STRIDE/RTI in cooperation with IPO Philippines held at Shangri-La, Fort Bonifacio, Ballroom Foyer,Taguig, Metro Manila on Sept 21-22, 2016. The theme of the event, “Valuing Creativity, Intensifying Innovations, Forging Connections” aims to provide space to academe, industry and government to collaborate, create and build relationships that would lead to innovations and breakthroughs. It is a venue to provide opportunities for researchers and technology innovators to share information and ideas to improve science and technology in the Philippines.
Bataan Peninsula State University, member of the ITSO-IPOPhl Network participated in the 2016 Luzon-NCR Regional assembly through the attendance of Mrs. Arlene D. Ibañez, current ITSO Manager and Mr. Eduardo S. Tinao, Chairperson, Research, Extension and Training (Main Campus) and previous ITSO Manager. The said assembly was a follow-up discussion of the recently concluded ITSO Planning held at the University of Immaculate Conception (UIC) in Davao City on July 12-14, 2016. The ITSO Luzon Network seeing the need for to further discuss issues and commitments to enhance cooperation among Luzon ITSO Network convened at the Centennial Hall, Del La Salle- Dasmariñas, Cavite on August 18-19, 2016.
BPSU Innovations and Technology Support Office (ITSO) Staff headed by Mr. Eduardo S. Tinao with Mrs. Arlene D. Ibañez, Andrea O. de Jesus, Charity S. Enriquez, Cristina G. Rivera, Aaron Rivera represented the Bataan Peninsula State University to the aforementioned event. The theme of the event “Juan Science One Nation”, this year’s National S & T Week celebration is being celebrated simultaneously in different regions of the country. Commemorative ceremonies and activities highlight the contribution of Science and Technology in national development.
